Family friendly outside dining south west coat path

Beer is our newest venue on our trail of communities along the Jurassic coast, located right on the south west coast path. Look out over the tranquil Beer bay, complete with working fishing boats and the iconic Beer luggers, as well as the 90 milllion year old chalk cliffs of the Jurassic coast.

Join us in Beer on the first Friday of the month this summer to nourish your friendships and eat your way around the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s on the menu?

Check out each event on our calendar a few days beforehand to see the line up of traders. It’s also posted on our facebook page, Instagram and on Google My Business. Please note though that our line up can change last minute – life gets in the way sometimes!

What should I bring?

Another layer for when the sun goes down, a cup for your pub purchases (or you can take part in our Borrow and Wash scheme for 25p), a cushion or blanket, perhaps a kite to fly on the beach? Your swimming things for an evening dip when the moon comes up.

When does it get busy?

If you want your food in a hurry come either early at 4, or late, at 8. We have extended our trading times to try and ease the pressure at peak time.

How busy does it get?

The event is much valued by people in the area and consequently, can get very busy. It’s not unusual to queue for 45 minutes to get your food.

Why do I have to wait so long for food?

Street food is fresh food not fast food.

Our traders work long hours behind the scenes to be able to serve up what they love to eat. Please be patient, be kind and enjoy the theatre of their cooking. All that hard work is rewarded by having fun with our customers. We love meeting you. We suggest you grab a drink from The Salty Arms, and treat queuing time as part of the fun. Get chatting with those around you, and before you know it you’ll have made new friends and made it to the front of the queue.

Why is it about community?

Sharing food is a ritual as old as time. With this informal way of dining its a great way to meet people, and it doesn’t put too much pressure on the purse. Our crowd are loyal friends and come back the and again to soak up the atmosphere and catch up with their mates.

Where can we sit?

We have some tables and chairs,  there are benches througouth the jubilee as well as a sheltered seating area. If you cannot find anywhere to sit in the venue, its because we’re having a Really busy night. Bring a chair, a cushion or a picnic blanket, or find a peaceful spot on the beach just below us. No worries about sand in your food with our beautiful, multi coloured pebbles.

Can we bring our own food and drink?

If you choose to purchase food from an establishment in the village instead, then thats great. Spread the love! But please save a little love for us because we are all trying to be viable businesses. Eats Boutique is not funded in any way – our only income is from making sales.

Where are the loos?

There are public facilities right next door to us. The nearest Changing Place is Tesco in Seaton.

Can I pay by card?

Yes – all traders take cards. There isn’t a cash point in Beer village other than the post office when its open. You can also get a little cash back from the pop up pub.

Do you have music?

We offer busking pitches. Please support our wonderful musicians by putting some cash in their case. You can also make a donation at The Salty Arms. Not all events have music as we know that this can make the events inaccessible to some people.

What time is the market?

We open at 4 and serve until about 9pm or when the food runs out.

Is there public transport?

Not a lot I’m afraid to say. We’re in a quiet corner of Devon. There are buses from neighbouring towns but please check timetables carefully as the last buses can be quite early. Try using TravelineSW

What else is there to do on a day out in Beer?

SOOOO much! Beer Quarry Caves are fascinating (and cool – great for hot days and rainy days) beach swimming,  rockpooling at low tide (check tide times here) walking the SW coast path, Holyford woods, walk the Seaton labyrinth, visit Seaton wetlands, ride the Tram, visit the independent shops, Saturday morning Seaton park run…. and more. Facebook is a great place to look and ask questions.
